Stormy sea

Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. (Psalm 46: 2 – 4)

The author of this particular psalm is speaking of a trust that is unshakable in every circumstance. Notice how vividly he depicts life’s struggles that come our way. He likens them to raging sea waters that swallow up everything in their path.
The Lord never promised us a life without troubles and trials. He never promised that we would sail through life without any hardships. Unfortunately, far too many Christians, preachers and churches have gotten sucked in by prosperity gospel.

Nevertheless, Jesus himself said that in this world, his followers would face troubles, trials and persecution. So when we find ourselves in similar trying circumstances, we ought to rejoice. When everything around us is shaking and falling apart, that does not mean that God forgot about us.

As long as we trust the Lord, then, neither trouble, nor temptation can wipe us out. And though they rage like the mighty raging waters, flowing like streams of rivers, those who put their trust in God, will not be moved. The only thing these flooding streams can do is “make glad the city of God, the holy dwelling of the Most High.”
Dear friend, the raging waters of testing in your life aren’t meant to destroy you but bring joy and gladness to your heart! The Lord sees the circumstances that we are facing far differently than we see them.

The Lord says to his children, “Do not be terrified of the waves. All they can do – is bring joy and gladness to My house! I allowed fiery trials to come into your life not to destroy you, but to correct you; to strengthen your faith, cleanse you, sanctify and refine you like gold. If you fully trust me, then everything you are going through, will produce in you what you cannot achieve on your own.
After going through all of this, you will be transformed into My perfect image. Your hearts will hear My voice. I will take you through the fire; I will test your character and remove any impurities from you. If there’s anything in your heart that does not glorify My name, it will be removed. These storms will remove vanity, idleness, and indifference. But you will have to renounce everything that distances you from the Lord.

When the storms begin to toss you around, you shall begin to look for Me in the early morning hours until sundown. Your hearts will stretch towards Me as the only source of your salvation, and you will come to know Me. And all this will bring joy and gladness to My house!
